The Anglo-Saxon time period went from 449-1066. Germanic Tribes came over to Eastern and Southern Britain. The Germanic tribes split into seven different kingdoms. They spoke the old English language. Some early characteristics of the Anglo-Saxon culture are: Sea faring, Bleak, Violent, and Pagan. Later characteristics of their culture were agriculture and they were more civilized. BY 690 ALMOST ALL OF BRITAIN WAS CHRISTIAN. The Danes/Vikings came over to loot monastaries, and then gained control in the North and East. By 1016 a Dane became the king of all England. This was the last successful invasion of England. When William the Conqueror became the King of England, the Anglo-Saxon period ended.
